This paper is an attempt to present selected (due to the subjective sense of importance) problems of Polish school and the Polish teacher. School and the teacher are inextricably bound – they cannot be described and analysed separately. In the text, school and teacher problems are presented from the dynamic perspective –the transformation period from 1989 till now and a theoretical-practical perspective are described by presenting selected theories and concepts commonly used in the analysis of such problems. The paper also shows practical examples of the described problems’ changes, both in relation to the institution of school itself and to the professional role and training of teachers.
