About the Journal
Note: Older issues of the journal, published between 2016 and 2020, are available on the website of the Publishing House of the State University of Applied Sciences in Włocławek. You will also find there selected articles published before 2016 and tables of content since 2006.
According to PWN dictionary definition, "civilization" (from Latin civilis ) is "the level of development achieved by a society within a specified period in history, particularly taking into account the level of material culture (especially exact sciences and technology), as indicative of the degree to which humans have harnessed the power of nature and utilised its resources". As one reads on, this term has multiple meanings, one of which is "a type of socially advanced culture (including hierarchical structure, law system, the institution of state, urbanisation), which is also advanced materially (technology and practical knowledge) and ideologically (well-developed art, literature, advanced religious systems, including theology and philosophical thought)". This interpretation is the one which conveys the development strategy for "Zbliżenia Cywilizacyjne" ("Civilization Rapprochements") scientific journal the best.
Our journal is to be a plane for thought exchange for people representing various scientific disciplines (history, literature, political sciences, psychology, education, administration and others). We wish for it to be a discourse platform concerning subjects that are of interest to contemporary human beings. We strive for open, intergenerational discussion, which creates an opportunity for uninterrupted growth of authors and readers alike. Depending on the subject matter and type of articles sent to us for publication we plan to publish both "monographic" issues (dealing with a given subject matter from the perspective of one or more scientific disciplines) and "eclectic" issues (presenting various theoretical and research subjects).
Therefore, we would like to encourage cooperation from everyone whose interests are concurrent with the journal`s form, thus opening its pages to experienced academics, students and Ph.D. students. May our scientific journal provide an opportunity to observe civilisation in close-up- in every dimension. "Zbliżenia Cywilizacyjne" is a ranked scientific journal, published in digital form by the Institute for Humanities of State University of Applied Sciences in Włocławek. The magazine is indexed in CEJSH (The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities) and the Index Copernicus International; it is enlisted in the ICI Journals Master List 2019 (The ICV for the year 2019 is 72.12). From 2021, the journal appears on the Platform of Academic Journals of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
