Psychology, particularly developmental psychology, has shown that a child is born as a sexual person, and his/her sexuality develops in stages associated with general child development and the tasks related to development. The stages of sexual development (psychosexual development according to Sigmund Freud) were presented in detail in order to clarify the need for an early start sex education and to demonstrate that specific content/information, skills and attitudes are passed on in connection with the development of the child. The optimal situation is when the individual issues are introduced before the child reaches the appropriate stage of development, so as to prepare them for the changes that will soon have to occur (for example, girls should know about menstruation occurs before menarche).
