Abstract

The article examines the profile and hierarchy of values among female upper secondary school students aged 16–19 and provides a preliminary assessment of the usefulness of the PVQ-RR in the school context. The pilot study included 85 female students. A 57-item version of the questionnaire PVQ-RR was used to measure 19 values within Schwartz’s refined theory of basic values. The analysis covered response completeness, internal consistency of the scales, and the profile and hierarchy of values. Response completeness was 99.77%, and most scales showed moderate to good internal consistency; greater caution is required when interpreting hedonism, humility, and personal security. The highest-ranked values were benevolence-dependability, hedonism, benevolence-caring, self-direction-action, and achievement, whereas the lowest-ranked were power-dominance, conformity-interpersonal, conformity-rules, humility, and tradition. The resulting profile should be interpreted as a picture of the respondents’ current value priorities, taking into account the developmental nature of adolescence. High response completeness and satisfactory internal consistency of most scales support the usefulness of the PVQ-RR in this group.
