Theses formulated in the article: 1) Modern pedagogical thought requires self-knowledge. 2) Pedagogical thought is the use of “mind” as an information management tool for education. 3) In this role, pedagogical thought differs from other non-intellectual control factors, such as the pressure of tradition or the preferences of the public. 4) As a form of mental work, pedagogical thought differs from other forms of pedagogical awareness, especially from scientific cognition. 5) The history of pedagogical thought proves that it is constituted by a discourse which involves defining, analysing and resolving dilemmas.References
