The aim of the article is to present selected methodological contexts in which the concept of discrimination is commonly identified with harmful social processes and phenomena. This goal is related to the observation that the realization of theoretical and practical objectives of research on the phenomenon of social discrimination and social inequalities can be severely distorted when at some stage of the given research its credibility is diminished. Paradoxically, the protection of this credibility may be precisely rely on the discrimination, although understood in harmony with the etymologically preceding meaning commonly found in the studies conducted by representatives of social sciences and the humanities. The methodology of empirical research also offers proven solutions for achieving this methodological discrimination and thus securing research objectives. Simultaneously, sensitivity to the linguistic context and awareness of duality of concepts supporting planning and designing of empirical research, not only on the social discrimination, may be conducive to the care of the credibility of knowledge as well as the effectiveness of the selection of data collection and analysis instruments.
