The aim of this article is an attempt to present the development trends of the concept of information literacy (IL) over several decades based on the analysis of keywords of scientific publications in the field of IL. The source study was based on the indexed resources of two significant scientific bibliographic databases, i.e. Web of Science Core Collection (WoS) and Scopus. They searched for scientific papers in which the term information literacy appeared in the title, abstract or keywords. In an analysis of keywords related to the search term, the VOSviewer software for building and visualising bibliometric networks was used. A metaanalysis
was also performed based on the review of research conclusions of foreign scientists formulated as a result of the dynamic analysis of the thematic model of articles on information literacy in the Web of Science and Scopus bibliographic databases. The following review is not exhaustive as it does not take into account scientific texts devoted to the issue of information literacy published in journals not indexed in the abovementioned bibliographic databases.
