The aim of this article is to outline the context for the discovery of and justification for the National Qualifications Framework as an effective means of increasing the quality of higher education. What is needed is a new paradigm which will facilitate the perception of the emerging new world. The building of this paradigm will require, above all, new content as well as new strategies for the transfer of that content into the educational realm. We should discuss less the reactivation of “traditional” academic culture at universities and more what the appropriate proportions and connections are between academic culture and the corporative cult.
