The nature of theology is such that it adopts supernatural premises as the bases of its study. This is what differs theology from sciences. A Positivistic approach in theology reduces it to one of natural disciplines. Theology of the Body is one of the theological disciplines that also adopts supernatural premises. The crucial one is the supernatural and direct formation of the first human body from the dust of the earth. The human body is the object of theology in three aspects: its origin, its nature, and its destination. TOB can be pursued in an essential and existential way. Until now it has been developed mainly in the latter manner, but it is necessary to develop TOB which would present the theological dimension of the human body taken as a substance. This can be done effectively only if the creation of the human body is restored in Catholic theology.References
