A critique of the contemporary hypothesis of particular judgment understood as human self-judgment in the context of theological hermeneutics and the integrity of the deposit of faith

Abstract

In contemporary theology and pastoral practice, it is widely accepted to interpret the particular judgment in such a way that the subject of judgment is not God Himself, but the human being, who judges themselves in the face of God's truth. This hypothesis is relatively new. Therefore, the article addresses the validity and correctness of such an interpretation. First, the question is raised whether such a significant interpretative shift, which directly breaks with the literal message of the Gospel, is justified from a theological perspective. Second, the article examines the impact of this hypothesis on other theological fields and issues. The integrity of faith implies that a change in one article of faith may lead to changes in other articles, which are not always immediately apparent.
