Eduardo De Filippo L’arte della commedia: According to Gérard Genette, the title defines the work, informs about the content and captures the attention of the audience. Often the translation of a title poses many problems, so translators employ a variety of translation strategies in search of semantic and cultural equivalence. This article analyses the translation of the title of Eduardo De Filippa's play L'arte della commedia, which was published in Polish as Sztuka gry aktorskiej. The theatrical system in Italy and Poland is different, and the Polish translator did not take into account the historical and cultural considerations behind the title of the original.
