Abstract

Dal 2019, l’intelligenza artificiale (IA) ha assunto un ruolo sempre più centrale nella vita quotidiana. Tuttavia, questa fase della sua evoluzione rappresenta solo l’inizio di sviluppi ancora più significativi. Consapevoli del ruolo essenziale che la Chiesa è chiamata a svolgere nel processo di sviluppo dell’IA, diverse istituzioni cattoliche hanno intensificato il loro impegno in questo ambito. Tra queste figura Longbeard, promotrice di Magisterium AI, un’iniziativa volta a sviluppare un sistema di intelligenza artificiale capace di rispondere a interrogativi concernenti la fede cattolica, attingendo a un’ampia banca dati di documenti magisteriali e accademici. Il presente articolo offre un’analisi critica dello stato attuale di Magisterium AI, basandosi sul Rapporto 2025, sulla presentazione agli investitori e sul modulo di feedback degli utenti, oltre che su un’interazione diretta con la piattaforma, con l’obiettivo di valutarne la conformità ai principi etici cattolici. In particolare, viene individuata l’espansione della banca dati come un ambito prioritario di miglioramento, mettendo in luce al contempo le sfide intrinseche a tale progetto. L’analisi conclude che lo sviluppo di un’IA cattolica non può ridursi alla mera aggregazione di documenti, ma richiede una conoscenza approfondita della Scrittura e delle sue tradizioni interpretative, una comprensione sistematica della teologia nel suo insieme, una solida familiarità con la storia delle idee—including l’evoluzione della cultura, dell’arte, della filosofia e della teologia—e una spiccata sensibilità nei confronti delle trasformazioni linguistiche e delle dinamiche culturali attraverso le quali si esprimono le verità eterne.

Kenny Ang, Pontificia Università della Santa Croce

Kenny Ang is a Research Professor in the Department of Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, where he earned his Doctorate in Sacred Theology. His teaching and research focus on Trinitarian theology, with particular attention to Peter Lombard, Thomas Aquinas, Bonaventure, and the relationship between the Trinity and creatures. He is the author of Aquinas and the Biblical Grounds of the Doctrine of Creation (Edizioni Santa Croce, 2024) and has published scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Nova et Vetera (forthcoming), European Journal for the Study of Thomas Aquinas, and Biblica et Patristica Thoruniensia.
