Résumé

Depuis 2019, l’intelligence artificielle (IA) occupe une place de plus en plus centrale dans la vie quotidienne. Toutefois, cette étape de son évolution ne constitue que le prélude à des avancées encore plus significatives. Conscientes du rôle fondamental que l’Église doit jouer dans le développement de l’IA, plusieurs institutions catholiques ont intensifié leur engagement envers cette frontière technologique. Parmi elles figure Longbeard, à l’origine de Magisterium AI, une initiative visant à concevoir un système d’intelligence artificielle capable de répondre aux questions relatives à la foi catholique en s’appuyant sur une vaste base de données regroupant des documents magistériels et académiques. Cet article propose une analyse critique de l’état actuel de Magisterium AI à partir de son Rapport 2025, de sa présentation aux investisseurs et de son formulaire de retour d’expérience des utilisateurs, ainsi que d’une interaction directe avec la plateforme, afin d’évaluer son adéquation aux principes éthiques catholiques. Il met en évidence l’élargissement de la base de données comme un axe prioritaire d’amélioration, tout en soulignant la complexité d’un tel projet. L’étude conclut que le développement d’une IA catholique ne saurait se réduire à une simple agrégation de documents. Il requiert une compréhension approfondie de l’Écriture et de ses traditions interprétatives, une maîtrise systématique de l’ensemble de la théologie, une connaissance étendue de l’histoire des idées—including l’évolution de la culture, de l’art, de la philosophie et de la théologie—ainsi qu’une sensibilité affinée aux mutations du langage et aux dynamiques culturelles à travers lesquelles s’expriment les vérités éternelles.

Kenny Ang, Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome

Kenny Ang is a Research Professor in the Department of Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, where he earned his Doctorate in Sacred Theology. His teaching and research focus on Trinitarian theology, with particular attention to Peter Lombard, Thomas Aquinas, Bonaventure, and the relationship between the Trinity and creatures. He is the author of Aquinas and the Biblical Grounds of the Doctrine of Creation (Edizioni Santa Croce, 2024) and has published scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Nova et Vetera (forthcoming), European Journal for the Study of Thomas Aquinas, and Biblica et Patristica Thoruniensia.
