Abstract

The article aims to conduct a formal-legal classification of Ruthenian documents related to land grants by the grand duke of Lithuania from the 1480s to the first third of the sixteenth century, clarifying the procedure of these grants, and defining the formal differences between notification and confirmation documents.

Aliaksandr Hrusha – PhD hab., professor at the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History, Polish Academy of Sciences. He specialises in the study of writing culture and law, Cyrillic palaeography, diplomatics of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania at the turn of the Middle Ages and early modern period, and the editing of documentary sources.
