CALL FOR PAPERS (volume 65, 2026)
BODY WORK: PRACTICES, IMAGINARIES, AFFECTIVE DIMENSIONS
We invite authors to contribute to a special issue of “Łódź Ethnographic Studies” dedicated to contemporary trends and practices aimed at transforming, modifying and beautifying the body, as well as the discourses surrounding these practices.
As we plan this issue of LSE, we seek to highlight the multiple connections between socially constructed bodily idea(l)s, the economy of beauty, and mobility in the broadest sense. In doing so, the issue aims to reignite and continue discussions about body work understood as work that individuals perform on their bodies and work performed onto their bodies by others, encompassing the physical and emotional aspects of work performed on other bodies. We encourage authors to focus on both the global circulation of patterns concerning corporeality and their local manifestations, transformations, interpretations.
The volume’s thematic editor: prof. dr hab. Anna Wieczorkiewicz (University of Warsaw), dr Ruxandra Ana (University of Lodz).
The deadline for submissions is 31 December 2025.
