Mushrooms genus Lactarius are less widely studied, because the investigations of chemical composition are focused on edible and cultivated ones. Lactarius species are rich in proteins, polysaccharides (chitin) and interesting bioactive sesquiterpenes present in latex as well as in fruiting body. Previous studies on Lactarius revealed the presence of velutinal, stearovelutinal, velleral and izovelleral. Furanodiol, lactarorufin A, lactarorufin B were first isolated from Lactarius rufus. In the present work furanodiol, and small amounts of lactarorufin A, B were obtained from fruiting bodies of Lactarius vellereus.
