Status and Identity of Catholic Pedagogy of Interwar Period in Poland

Academic legacy of catholic pedagogy between 1918 and 1939 shows its plenteous and well profiled identity. Possessed condition of self-awareness reveals academic status and ambitions of its creators. Catholic pedagogy of these years does not construct trend of a minor importance for its own environment, but it is one of the humanities (in general) with complete aspirations and wide field of problems. Catholic pedagogy, ingrained in the Roman Catholicism, shows orientations for child’s felicity and joy, trust, educator’s responsibility, what deserves a recognition. It strives for a man with high moral culture, a man of action. Its universalism, realism, objectivism, place for transcendence is crowned by postulate of the harmony of life and education. Catholic pedagogy has ambitions to be a paedagogia perennis.
