Abstract

In the Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei Benedict XVI announced the Year of Faith. This event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II. It was the Pope’s intention to demonstrate through the Catechism the power and the truth of the Catholic Faith to all the faithful. The Faith is in fact an entrance enabling encounter with God and quest for truth about life of every human being.

In this panorama our lecture aims to show a need to return to the Christian roots of Europe, which in the present socio-religious context is losing its historical memory. In such reality, the crisis of man is a crisis of Christian. Therefore, there is a need for new evangelization as a means to assist in formation of man and preservation of European Christendom.
