The study entitled “The role of the Charter of the Rights of the Family in the realisation of human rights” focusses on the significance of the Charter of the Rights of the Family issued by the Holy See in 1983 for the realisation of human rights. The charter includes an extensive set of rights for the family which pertain both to the family as a whole and to its individual members. The study analyses the Charter as a non-binding normative act on human rights, with consideration of the pastoral function of the Charter, which impacts on its content and form. Among the issues under consideration are the normative character of the Charter, its origin and basic assumption, and also the primary values and the set of the rights for the family it contains. The study ends with conclusions.
