Duties and Goals of the Artist and Contemporary Art in the Community of the Church, According to Cardinal G.B. Montini – Archbishop of Milan (1954–1963)

The article tries to fill the gap in Polish literature on the teaching of G. B. Montini on the art and the role of the artist in the community of the Church. From many speeches and homilies of the Bishop of Milan covering the years 1954–1963, there have been selected those that could reflect the idea of his tireless search for a dialogue between Christian spirituality and artistic creativity after World War II The Holy Missions undertaken for the diocese of Milan at the beginning of the episcopate, the construction of new churches, the influence of the liturgy on the interior of the temple, are just some of the topics raised by Montini, which allowed a better understanding of the role of creators in the work of evangelization.
