Abstract

The article presents different factors influencing the choice of parish service model in Germany. For this purpose, the state of religiousness of particular Churches in Western Europe in the context of growing secularisation movements has been presented. Then, the models of relationship between the state and the Church in the European Union have been described, with particular care to the ways of Church funding in particular Member States. In conclusion, the parish ministry model in the German Church – a Church which in recent years due to the above-mentioned factors has gone through the process of reorganisation of the parish model – has been illustrated.
