The author of the paper tries to answer the question about the role of the liturgy in the life of Christian communities in the light of the Apocalypse of St. John, which is called the “book full of liturgy”. Analyzing the liturgical dimension of this book and the existential context of the life of Christian communities at the end of the first century AD, illustrated in the narrative of this book, he comes to the conclusion that liturgy is for these communities a natural and indispensable life context. He proves this thesis even more by interpreting the text from the Book of Revelation 12:5.14 about the Woman (the Church) who fled into the desert. Finally, he concludes that the desert is a symbolic image of the liturgy, the place appropriate for the Christian community, living in a world immersed in idolatry. This message is still valid, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, when there are voices about the uselessness of liturgy for Christians.
