The article is an attempt to present the phenomenon of the outpouring of the Spirit (described sometimes as “the baptism in the Holy Spirit”) in relation to the sacrament of confirmation. Along with baptism and the Eucharist, confirmation is the sacrament of Christian initiation. The reality of those three sacraments constitutes a particular unity in respect to God’s grace and the subject, namely the person who is endowed with this grace in the Church. Thus, in order to demonstrate thoroughly the perspective of the undertaken theme the references of the outpouring of the Spirit to the sacrament of baptism and the Eucharist have been presented. Apart from analyses based on biblical data, the article brings up the position of the Magisterium and views of modern experts on pneumatology. The Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate is the focus of this reflection. For she is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit and “full of grace” (Lk 1: 28). She is also the first Christian and the first charismatic.
