This article deals with the history of the bishop’s crosier as insignia. Crosier as a symbol of episcopal authority needs a specific study. The better one understands the characters, the deeper may enter into the reality of what they signify. Therefore, a study on the pastoral staff is the key for better understanding the pastoral ministry of bishop in the Church. This article describes the history, origins, meaning, and symbolism of the crosier.
