From the time of getting married the system of relations between both spouses and their parents-in-law is extended. Regular contact with parents-in-law is becoming natural. Unfortunately, the contact is not always satisfying and maintained in the right way. Quite often conflicts between a son-in-law or a daughter-in-law and their parents-in-law may arise. The article focuses on the relationships between these persons. It shows that the causes of conflicts with parents-in-law may have their grounds in the way of creating the bond between parents (especially mother) and a child who later becomes a husband or wife. The article provides a general analysis of the reasons for conflicts in relationships with parents-in-law and examples of conflicts resolution. These are set forth particularly alongside a discussion of two passages from the Bible: the Book of Ruth and the Book of Exodus. The persons that are described and their behaviour become role models in building relationships between daughter-in-law and mother-in-law as well as son-in-law and father-in-law. The article includes positive roles, that are fulfilled by parents-in-law in the family life of their children.
