The article examines the possibility of using generative artificial intelligence in the preparation of homilies and sermons. Its starting point is a theological understanding of the homily as an event of the word within the Church’s assembly, integrally connected with the liturgy, Sacred Scripture, and the ministry of an ordained minister. Against this background, the author argues that AI may serve a supportive role by assisting exegetical analysis, structuring material, hermeneutical reflection, and linguistic editing. At the same time, it cannot replace the preacher’s personal discernment, doctrinal responsibility, or lived witness of faith. The final part discusses the main risks connected with the instrumentalization of the word of God, model hallucinations, knowledge outsourcing, and the weakening of the personal dimension of preaching.
