La teología como posibilidad fundante de una ciencia más humana

Paul Karl Feyerabend concibe la religión como un camino posible para infundir sentido y humanidad a la ciencia. Asegura que cuando se ha concretado históricamente una unidad entre ciencia y religión, la ciencia ha podido trascender los valores de utilidad y eficacia. Pues la religión confiere sentido a los resultados científicos dentro de una imagen del mundo que implica a la persona como un todo. En este contexto, el vienés invita a establecer un dialogo con la ciencia de la antigua Grecia en orden a conocer formas más humanas de hacer ciencia y poder juzgar en perspectiva los logros del materialismo cientificista. Nuestro objetivo en este trabajo será atender a esta invitación del vienés estudiando la relación que existe entre matemática y teología en los escritos ptolemaicos. Creemos que el alejandrino constituye un caso emblemático de esta comunión entre ciencia y teología y –en este sentido– nos permite repensar la ciencia contemporánea como una tarea cognoscitiva más atenta a las implicancias humanas y existenciales de sus teorías y modelos.
