Résumé

Rozumienie pojęcia ,,planeta’’ zmieniało się z czasem. W miarę jak analiza planet i ich własności z zakresu filozofi i przechodziła do nauk fizycznych pojęcie to krystalizowało się i stawało coraz lepiej zdefiniowane. Nawet dziś jednak nie do końca potrafi my powiedzieć czym jest tytułowa planeta, ani tym bardziej ile ich jest. Właściwe zrozumienie tego co astronomie określają pojęciem planety jest o tyle ważne, że dla wielu osób poszukiwania planet tożsame są z poszukiwaniem życia pozaziemskiego. Przedstawiony artykuł stanowi próbę konfrontacji współczesnej wiedzy na temat planet z historyczną ewolucją pojęcia.
