Call for papers: Understanding the Future: Scientific, Philosophical and Theological Perspectives

Journal Scientia et Fides (Q1 Scopus) is running a special issue on:

Understanding the Future: Scientific, Philosophical and Theological Perspectives

Time is one of the great themes in the history of philosophy and theology, which also occupies and preoccupies science and technology. In this monograph we are going to focus on the understanding of the future, both from Metaphysics and from Anthropology or Philosophy of Culture, but also trying to understand what we can expect from the future in different aspects that affect human life.

The aim of this monograph is, therefore, threefold: on the one hand, we want to approach the understanding of the future as a time to come; secondly, we want to delve deeper into the human vision of the future, as hope or as expectation. Finally, we want to try to understand, in relation to the above, what we can expect from the development of our world in all the facets that will affect human beings and society in the coming decades: changes in living circumstances (smart cities, climate change, universal basic income), the development of technology (artificial intelligence, communication networks), and even the nature of the human being (transhumanism). The perspective is therefore multidisciplinary, but always from a reflective and argumentative position that links any discipline with Philosophy and Theology.

We invite colleagues from all over the world to participate in this monograph of the journal Scientia et fides with original contributions that can provide complementary points of view on this issue with a special focus on the contemporary world.

The preferred length of the paper is 30 000 characters (space included).

Submission deadline: 30 June 2024.
