'Odrębny', 'oddzielny', 'osobny'. W poszukiwaniu różnic semantycznych

Abstract

The article concerns the meaning of expressions representing three concepts: distinctiveness, separateness, and singularity. The focus is, respectively, on the Polish adjectives: odrębny, oddzielny and osobny, while the study does not cover other lexical representations of the scrutinised units (e.g. adverbs based on the adjectives in question which were properly described in a 2022 study by P. Rosalska). Semantic findings are primarily based on the examination of lexical connectivity of the presented expressions. The analysis also considers lexicographical information reflecting the state of research on the analysed units. The study falls within the scope of structural semantics and its aim is to determine what kind of semantic relations the scrutinised units enter with one another (whether they are synonymous in the strict sense or only quasi-synonymous) and to establish proposals for their adequate definition.
