Revealing a dialogical character of religion and philosophy, the paper nvestigates the relationship between ecumenical transformations and the philosophical idea of dialogue. Dialogueness is the fundamental feature of religious acts. If one focuses on the presence of dialogue in the philosophical tradition, one has to distinguish two forms of dialogue. The first one is just a way of philosophising through dialogue. The second one tries to conceive of dialogue as the foundation of the „new philosophy and thinking”. Treating dialogue not as a mere tool of philosophy but as a philosophical category, dialogical thinking has been changing man’s original attitude towards the world.
