George Bernard Shaw’s Comedy Arms and the Man and its Influence on the Image of the Bulgarian Soldiers during the Balkan Wars 1912–1913

At the end of the nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century, culture makers often acted as creators of opinions about current events. One of them was the British prominent intellectualist George Bernard Shaw, who undertook in his work the subject of wars fought in the Balkans. The aim of the article is to present the relationship between Shaw’s comedy Arms and the Man and the image of Bulgarian soldiers during the Balkan wars of 1912 and 1913 appearing in the press coverage from the era. It also touch the matter of depicting the realities of the war and the heroism of officers and soldiers on the battlefield.
