Liwia i Oktawian: uwagi o narodzinach "pierwszej damy Cesarstwa Rzymskiego

Artykuł zawiera uwagi o kształtowaniu się roli żony rzymskiego princepsa. Nowy status Liwii zapoczątkowały przywileje z 35 r. p.n.e. Oktawian przyznał żonie i siostrze trzy przywileje: prawo do posągów miejscach publicznych, zwolnienie z tuteli i nietykalność, którą Cassius Dio łączy z sacrosanctitas trybuna ludowego, ale w tym przypadku wzorem były prawdopodobnie przywileje westalek. Uwolnienie od tuteli umożliwiło Oktawii i Liwii dysponowanie majątkiem osobistym. Kontrola męskiego opiekuna została złagodzona w późnej Republice, ale całkowite zniesienie tuteli należy postrzegać jako zaszczyt dla obu kobiet, który wyniósł je ponad status matrony.
