Abstract

Acmella oleraceais a remarkable, though little-known family which is representative of a broad group of species of the Asteraceae family. However, in contrast to other represen-tatives of the same group is characterized by unusual properties that are widely used in various spheres of human life. Acmellaplant is not only appreciated for its culinary uses (leaves used in the preparation of various salads), but above all a wide range of medical applications. Since the relief of pain, dental pain (hence one of the names „plant pain tooth” „toothache plant”) by an antiseptic (running on the plurality of groups of pathogens) to the effect of purely cosmetic –Acmella oleraceaextract is considered to be a natural alternative for Botox. This extract contains spilanthol, substance belongs to a group of alkylamides. Applied topically, it reduces muscle tension, thus helping to reduce facial wrinkles. Evi-dence of spilanthol activities are reported in this article two studies which clearly show the efficacy of the substance. Thus, the time to admit that nature once again surprised man, created an alternative, a safe and non-toxic and equally effective as botulinum toxin „herbal botox”.
