Abstract

The book constitutes a collection of memoirs referring to the University Library and its employees in the years 1971–1977. The author of the memoirs, the historian of books and libraries worked in the University Library for six years. The book is also a story about the daily life of library workers, their habits and passions, events and parties organized by them. The publication is divided into two parts, in which the life in two buildings of the university library was described. In the first old building situated in Bydgoskie Przedmieście , the library operated in the years 1947–1973. Since May 1973 the library has been located in the modern building in Bielany. The publication includes numerous photographs from the collections of the library and the archives of its workers.

Anna Supruniuk, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Archive

Dr hab. Anna Supruniuk is the head of the Archive of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. In 1996 she defended her PhD thesis Otoczenie księcia mazowieckiego Siemowita IV (1374–1426) . Studium o elicie politycznej Mazowsza na przełomie XIV i XV wieku (Warszawa 1998) in the Institute of History and Archival Studies of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. In 2011 she obtained her postdoctoral degree of dr hab. for the work Mazowsze Siemowitów (1341–1442). Dzieje polityczne i struktury władzy (Warszawa 2010). Her research interests focus on medieval history, particularly the studies on the political elite of the Duchy of Masovia and the Masovian-Polish relations at the end of the 14th and the 15th centuries, the history of Polish emigrants in the 20th century, the history of Polish culture and science in Torun in the 20th century with special emphasis on Nicolas Coperncius University and the history of Vilnius University from 1773 to 1945. She published: Bibliografia prac i publikacji Towarzystwa Naukowego w Toruniu za lata 1961-1999 (Toruń 2000); Szkice o rycerstwie mazowieckim XIV/XV wieku (Toruń 2008); Uniwersytet Stefana Batorego w Wilnie w fotografiach: 1919–1939, along with Mirosław A. Supruniuk (Toruń 2009); Ex Oriente ad finem terrae. Polish knights on the way to Santiago de Compostela in 14th and 15th century (London-Wielka Nieszawka-Toruń 2010) and Uniwersytet z Łaski Bożej. Lata 1945–1946 w historii Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w prasie i radio, along with Mirosław A. Supruniuk, including memories of Andrzej Tomczak (Toruń 2015) and Tajemnicze początki Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika: (Wilno i Lwów w Toruniu), along with Mirosław A. Supruniuk, including memories of Józef Szudy (Toruń 2017).
