Abstract

The article consists of two parts. The first one, methodological, employs observations made by N. K. Hayes how different forms of reading influence our reading of the Scripture and its message. The second one, applies this theory of reading to an interpretation of a narrative in Mark 5:21–43. It aims to define faith in narrative terms as a transformative experience. Three main characters in the narrative read their respective stories of life and of others in such a way that they interweave. This process is a condition under which one is able to share her/his faith with the other.
