New Churches in the Panorama of the Towns in East Prussia (1918–1945)
The article discusses sacred architecture of the towns in East Prussia in the interwar period. The author presents the main stages of the development and features of sacred architecture in the towns of the region from the Middle Ages to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The location of temples in the urban layouts and their composition role are discussed. The author makes an attempt to indicate the churches which stood out owing to their extraordinary architectural solutions or circumstances of their construction (reconstruction) such as the temples in Giżycko [Lötzen], Iława [Deutsch Eylau], Królewiec [Königsberg] and Wegorzewo [Angerburg].
