The current reality is perceived as unpredictable and diverse on the one hand, and dynamic and ambivalent on the other. The processes of globalisation, transformations of the socio-cultural world, scientific and technological progress contribute to the transformation of lifestyle, system of values and everyday functioning of young people today. Additionally, as recent times have
shown, apart from technological and social challenges, young people also have to struggle with experiences and consequences of the COVID-19 crisis. Research conducted by Shiuxan Jin and colleagues2 showed that the COVID-19 pandemic has had the greatest negative impact on people aged 18–24. This group saw an increase in loneliness, job insecurity, and economic hardship.
The situation of professional preparation and activity of Generation Z in the labour market will be important for the functioning of many societies. The way young people cope in the labour market and overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will undoubtedly depend on their education, development of their skills and work experience. The aim of this article is to show the characteristics of Generation Z and the difficulties encountered by people of this generation in the labour market. It is also important to present possible forms of support to prepare for the beginning of professional activity, as well as its continuation in difficult pandemic conditions.
