The aim of the article is to present an innovative conception of emotion included in Jean Paul Sartre’s Essay on Theory of emotions (original title Esquisse d’une théorie des émotions), one of his first appreciated book. Sartre proposes the way of consideration which is oppossed to classical theories of emotion. Phenomenological method and Heidegger’s philosophy are means used by him to prove that an emotion can be treated as a phenomenon. In this article, I analyse the Sartre’s phenomenological research concerning the essence of emotion.
