Although the notion plays a central role in both philosophical systems, its meaning is slightly different. Hume's detailed epistemological analyzes make it possible to distinguish three planes of description in his philosophy: common-sense, mechanistic and phenomenalistic, with sympathy playing a different role in each of them. Smith saw the central importance of this concept in Hume's concept of mind and sentiments and adopted it in his theory of moral feelings, but lacks a subtle analysis of the "mechanics" of human thought. This deficiency, however, can be treated both as neglect. However, on the other hand - paradoxically - it allows us to perceive the doctrinaire character of Hume's concept resulting from the adoption of a physicalist model of the explication of human affectivity.
2022-08-23T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Adam Jerzy Grzeliński, Anna Markwart Johannes Bobrowski und seine Kant-Erzählung 2022-03-21T10:52:12+01:00 Dariusz Pakalski
Johannes Bobrowski i jego opowiadanie o Kancie

Johannes Bobrowski (ur.
2022-08-23T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Dariusz Pakalski Hannah Arendt and political economy by Jean-Jaques Rousseau 2022-08-23T14:32:56+02:00 Robert Rogoziecki
The text is a critical analysis of the objections made by Hannah Arendt against Rousseau. It shows how Rousseau’s concept of political economy fits into Arendt’s understanding of society. From this perspective, Rousseau turns out to be an ideologue of society. It manifests in the belief that it is not people but societies that inhabit the Earth. Arendt did not notice or at least did not consider Rousseau’s shift in perception of politics. Unlike the ancient Greeks, he did not regard man as a political being, but a natural one. Therefore, according to him politics requires external legitimization, that is given to it by morality and elementary biological needs. Nature, in turn, provides morality and politics with standards of law. Here, the general will proves to be a kind of social substitute in the context of natural laws’ absence.
2022-08-23T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Dialogiczny wymiar filozofii sztuki Hansa-Georga Gadamera 2022-08-23T14:23:58+02:00 Paweł Sznajder
The article presents the results of research on the relationship between the philosophy of art by Hans-Georg Gadamer and the philosophy of dialogue. Play, symbol and festival are the three concepts of key importance to Gadamer's thought that Gadamer used in his ontology of works of art and that undergo analysis. Reinterpreted from the perspective of the philosophy of dialogue, the three categories reveal unique characteristics of Gadamer's hermeneutics: the striving to preserve the view of the other in dialogue; the role of ethics in interpersonal communication; the elitism of the dialogical relationship as well as a critique of the ideas of wholeness and totality. Thus, aesthetic experience appears as the pattern of the relationship between You and I.
2022-08-23T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Translator`s Introduction 2022-06-06T11:58:25+02:00 Krzysztof Paweł Wawrzonkowski 2022-08-23T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Krzysztof Paweł Wawrzonkowski O zmyśle lub smaku piękna 2022-08-23T13:14:17+02:00 Alexander Gerard Krzysztof Paweł Wawrzonkowski
Ninejszy przekład prezentuje fragment "An essay on Taste" Alexandra Gerarda.
