Karl Jaspers, boundary situations, possible situations, freedom, existenceAbstract
The article aims to extract specificity of the boundary situations, as they were shown in philosophy of Karl Jaspers. As the starting point the term “situation” was introduced, because in Jaspers’ doctrine it has meaning slightly different than in colloquial language. Then author of the article analyzed the various elements which distinguish boundary situations from possible situations. These attributes are: inevitability, uniqueness etc. Boundary situations allow existential elucidation and give freedom a chance to appear. By going through boundary situation one can become truly himself (accomplish his destiny).
