Widmo stoicyzmu – rola Justusa Lipsiusa w dyskusji pomiędzy Hobbesem i Bramhallem
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest podkreślenie znaczenia dwóch powiązanych ze sobą aspektów dyskusji pomiędzy Hobbesem i Bramhallem. Po pierwsze, wiele kwestii, które zostają podniesione w tej debacie można sprowadzić do jednej i zasadniczej: rozróżnienia pomiędzy koniecznością hipotetyczną i absolutną; chociaż Hobbes chciał uchodzić za zwolennika konieczności hipotetycznej, Bramhallowi udało się odkryć prawdziwe stanowisko swego przeciwnika. Po drugie, Bramhalllowi udało się poprawnie wskazać na źródła rzeczywistego stanowiska Hobbesa jako zwolennika konieczności absolutnej, jakim jest częściowy powrót do stoicyzmu Lipsiusa. Z tego też względu celem artykułu jest nie tylko nakreślenie głównych założeń determinizmu Lipsiusa oraz jego konsekwencji dla filozofii Hobbesa, ale także ponowne rozważanie znaczenia Lipsiusa w historii filozofii.
