"Theology and Man" is a quarterly journal that has been published since 2003 at the Nicolas Copernicus University and is edited by academics from the Faculty of Theology in partnership with an international academic council of theologians. The first editor-in-chief of the journal in the years 2003-2020 was Rev. prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Konecki. From October 1, 2020, this function is performed by Rev. dr hab. Daniel Brzezinski, prof. NCU.
Each issue contains four sections: 1 - Theology, 2 - Family, 3 - Ecumenism, 4 - Orient.
The main objective of the publication is to present academic research, and to discuss and analyse current trends and tendencies taking place in different fields of modern theology, such as the Bible, dogmatic theology, fundamental theology, the theology of liturgy, the theology of spirituality, pastoral theology, catechetics, homiletics, and the history of the Church. Since philosophy is taught as part of the program at the Faculty of Theology, the publication also addresses philosophical problems. Apart from tackling strictly theological issues, authors also discuss the current pastoral problems of the Church related to changes of social, economic, cultural and political nature. They stress challenges posed to the Church by various social phenomena, such as migration for employment, discrimination, the meeting of cultures, the secularization of life, and especially the preservation of one's faith identity while opening up to others. The publication takes on difficult questions related to the defence of life, euthanasia, human rights and human dignity, which reflects the fact that it is interested not only in theology, but also in man.
Such a broad range of discussed problems obliges to a call for cooperation with theologians from various academic institutions in Poland and abroad. From the very beginning, the publication offered opinions of foreign authors representing theological thoughts of academic centres in Germany, Spain and Italy.
The section entitled "Ecumeny" allows a discussion about current issues related to dialogue and the meetings of different religions and denominations. "Reports" talk about important events and achievements of numerous academic centres. "Reviews" present Polish and foreign publications from various subfields of theology.
Our publication is available online as well as in hard copy; however, it is always printed first.
It features on the list of quality publications that are awarded points by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science . In 2021 we were awarded 100 points.
