Innovative Today – Strategic Tomorrow. Dual-Use Technologies in the Service of National Security
Keywords
dual-use technologies, national security, unmanned aerial vehicles, artificial intelligence, composite materials, technological innovationAbstract
The growing complexity of contemporary security challenges highlights the increasing importance of dual-use technologies that integrate both civilian and military functionalities. Solutions such as unmanned aerial vehicles, artificial intelligence and advanced materials provide the flexibility required to respond to diverse threats and play a key role in enhancing national resilience. This article emphasizes the potential of the Polish scientific and technological sector, including initiatives developed by technical universities, research institutes and private enterprises. The selected case studies demonstrate the capacity of the domestic engineering community to deliver innovative solutions suitable for both civilian infrastructure and defense systems. The objective is to explore the strategic role of dual-use technologies in shaping modern security policy and to underscore the need for a coordinated framework that facilitates their development, implementation and international promotion.
