Selected issues concerning the legal status and social insurance of the spouse of the President of the Republic of Poland

Abstract

By the Act of 17 September 2021 amending the Act on Remuneration of Persons Holding Executive State Positions and Certain Other Acts (hereinafter: w.z.k.) , a new title of insurance - the spouse of the President of the Republic of Poland - was introduced to social and health insurance. This article analyses the changes introduced by the aforementioned act relating to selected issues of social security of the spouse of the President of the Republic of Poland. This title is distinguished by the manner of adoption of the regulation itself, but also by the narrow scope of entities to which it is addressed. This paper defines the concept of the spouse of the President of the Republic of Poland against the background of the new solutions provided for in the above-mentioned act. It also analyses selected issues concerning the status of the spouse and the social insurance of the head of state's spouse, namely: the financing and amount of contributions and the basis for calculating sickness benefits.
