How Italy and Italians coped with the crisis?

Abstract

One and a half century after its unifi cation Italy is in crisis. A lot of Italians do not believe that their state functions as a united political organism. The worldwide crisis which began in the financial market of the United States, has painfully affected Italy as well, reviving all the old problems. The biggest danger for the country has resulted from the eff ects of economic slowdown. The Government of Premier Silvio Berlusconi has not been eff ective enough at fighting the crisis and has failed to fulfi ll many of their promises of before the general election. Basically, however, the crisis has not changed the lifestyles of the Italians, who – instead of taking loans – would rather save. Due to this fact the Italian economy presents itself in a fairly good condition against those of the most important member states of the European Union.
