The paper Piotr Skarga and his film image: against the biographical myth is a critical contemplation of Jarosław Mańka’s film Skarga. The film was produced for the commemoration of the Year of the Reverend Piotr Skarga (2012) under the patronage of „Polonia Christiana” magazine and the Father Piotr Skarga Institute for Social and Religious Education. The main points of reference of the critical analysis of Skarga are the problems related to the film genre (documentary, fictionalized documentary, docudrama) as well as biographical films (biographical myth, representation theory). The aspects of propaganda are significant as well. The message of the film and its politically charged themes place the artistic choices of the film’s co-producers in the context of the relationship between art and politics (propaganda films, PRL educational film).
