The occurrence of injuries in recreational runners in Wroclaw

Introduction. Practicing sports activities e.g. running exposes individuals to physical injuries.
Aim. Aim of the study was to determine the occurrence of injuries in runners training long running in Wrocław. The second aim was to investigate injury risk factors in runners.
Materials and methods. In the study participated 255 subjects (157 man and 98 woman).
The subjects were members in a running association WKB PIAST Wrocław, PRO-RUN Wrocław as well as non associated runners. In the study a diagnostic survey was used.
Results. In this study 61% (n=156) of participants were injured, while 39% (n=100) trained without any injuries.
Conclusions. The runners suffered from overloads in plantar fascia, cuff muscles and quadriceps muscles. The main injury factors were improper training loads and training surface.
