ABOUT THE JOURNAL
PUBLICATION ETHICS
Journal is accepted Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and aims to follow the COPE’s Code of Conduct. In case of the discovered misconduct on the author’s part such as plagiarism, falsifying data, or double publication, the journal Editorial Team will call for an explanation and then undertake appropriate steps by following the COPE flowcharts or seeking advice on particular issues at the COPE forum. This may eventually include notification of authorities at the author's institution, the withdrawal of the article in question and the exclusion of any further submissions of the same author from being processed by the journal.
Journal of Education, Health and Sport is committed to a high standard of editorial ethics.
Any cases of multiple, redundant or concurrent publications, plagiarism, fabricated data, guest authorship etc. show scientific dishonesty of the author (-s). All these cases will be announced and delivered to the corresponding educational institutions (place of work of the author (-s), scientific societies, scientific associations etc.). The editorial office should acquire information on sources of financing of a publication, financial contributions of research institutions, scientific associations and others ("financial disclosure"). By submitting a manuscript for publication the author (s): 1. Agrees to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0); 2. Agrees with the principles of ethics of scientific publications upon recommendations of International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, COPE. ETHICAL STANDARDS The reliability of science is one of its qualitative foundations. Readers should be guaranteed that authors of publications present the results of their work in a clear, reliable and honest manner regardless of the fact whether they are the direct authors of the publication or they took benefit of specialized help (natural or legal person). The openness of information on any party contributing to the preparation of a publication (content-related, material, financial etc. input) is proof of ethical attitude of a research worker and of high editorial standards and that is an indication of both good practice and social responsibility. Main responsibility to disclose full information remains on the author submitting a manuscript. Any cases of redundant (duplicate) publication, plagiarism, fabricated data, ghostwriting, guest authorship etc. are indications of scientific dishonesty and all such cases will be exposed and adequate institutions will be informed (institutions employing the author, scientific societies, scientific editors associations etc.). The editorial office should acquire information on sources of financing of a publication, financial contributions of research institutions, scientific associations and others (“financial disclosure”). When dealing with cases of possible misconduct Journal of Education, Health and Sport follows the ethics flowcharts developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available at: (http://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts). Journal of Education, Health and Sport documents all incidents of scientific dishonesty especially of violation of ethical principles followed in science. Anti-Plagiarism system
To prevent plagiarism, the journal’s editorial team relies on an anti-plagiarism system https://www.crossref.org/services/similarity-check/ which uses the iThenticate software ( http://www.ithenticate.com/) by Turnitin – a global provider of technology services for science and education. The system allows to check the alleged similarity of the text in question with billions of Internet sources and texts deposited by publishers who use Similarity Check.
Retractions. On rare occasions, when the scientific information in an article is substantially undermined, it may be necessary for published articles to be retracted. Journal will follow the COPE in such cases. Retraction articles are indexed and linked to the original article.Journal provides free, immediate and permanent online access to the full text of all articles.
Open Access PolicyAll Open Access articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.Articles published in the Journal are made freely available to readers immediately upon publication. Self-Archiving PolicyAuthors of articles are permitted to self-archive the submitted (preprint) version of the article at any time and may self-archive the accepted (peer-reviewed) version. The Authors may deposit a published version of the article. On submission of their manuscript, authors may deposit the submitted version in their personal, institutional, or online pre-print repository. The first page of the manuscript must clearly display the following wording: This paper is a preprint of a paper submitted to Journal of Education, Health and Sport. If the paper is rejected, authors must remove all mention of the journal. The author may deposit post-print version of the paper (accepted version of the manuscript after peer-review and content amendments, but before copyediting, typesetting and proof correction) to the author's personal website, provided that it is non-commercial, and to the repository of the author's institution with acknowledgment of the Journal (acknowledgment should be made as follows: This is an accepted peer-reviewed version of the paper. The published version of the article is available at Journal of Education, Health and Sport at https://doi.org/[doi of the article]). Published version of an open-access article. The Author may deposit the published version of the paper (final edited and typeset version that is made publicly available by the Publisher and can be considered an article) to any institutional repository, and distribute and make it publicly available in any way with acknowledgment to the Journal (acknowledgment should be made as follows: This is a published version of the paper, available at Journal of Education, Health and Sport" at https://doi.org/[doi of the article]). BUDAPEST OPEN ACCESS INITIATIVE
Budapest Open Access Initiative
Journal is accepted in response to the growing demand to make research free and available to anyone with a computer and an internet connection, a diverse coalition has issued new guidelines that could usher in huge advances in the sciences, medicine, and health.
The recommendations were developed by leaders of the Open Access movement, which has worked for the past decade to provide the public with unrestricted, free access to scholarly research—much of which is publicly funded. Making the research publicly available to everyone—free of charge and without most copyright and licensing restrictions—will accelerate scientific research efforts and allow authors to reach a larger number of readers.
The recommendations are the result of a meeting organized by the Open Society Foundations to mark the tenth anniversary of the Budapest Open Access Initiative, which first defined Open Access. The recommendations include the development of Open Access policies in institutions of higher education and in funding agencies, the open licensing of scholarly works, the development of infrastructure such as Open Access repositories, and the creation of standards of professional conduct for Open Access publishing. The recommendations also establish a new goal of achieving Open Access as the default method for distributing new peer-reviewed research in every field and in every country within ten years’ time.
Translations of the recommendations have already been made in several languages, with more to follow.
For more on the recommendations, please see the press release as well as a blog post by Peter Suber which provides additional background on the Open Access movement.

BASE
AUTHORSHIP
The journal endorses the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidance concerning authorship credit. According to the guidance the authorship should be “based on the following 4 criteria:
1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
3. Final approval of the version to be published; AND
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
In addition to being accountable for the parts of the work he or she has done, an author should be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for specific other parts of the work. In addition, authors should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of their co-authors.”.
“Contributors who meet fewer than all 4 of the above criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors, but they should be acknowledged. Examples of activities that alone (without other contributions) do not qualify a contributor for authorship are acquisition of funding; general supervision of a research group or general administrative support; and writing assistance, technical editing, language editing, and proofreading”.
CONTRIBUTORSHIP
In case of more than one author contributing to the research, individual contributions (substantial, not percentage) of each author must be specified in the manuscript (in the “Authors' contributions” section; e.g., research designing: Author1; conducting experiments: Author2; writing the manuscript: Author1, Author2; etc.). This information will be published in the article.
CHANGES IN AUTHORSHIP
In accordance with COPE guidelines, any changes in authorship require written consent of all authors sent individually via direct email to the Editor-in-Chief. Each of them must issue a statement on the acceptance of the proposed changes in the authorship of submitted manuscripts or published articles. The corresponding author takes responsibility for providing a clear reason for the change(s) and should coordinate interaction between the authors and the Editor-in-Chief. In case no satisfactory agreement can be reached among the authors, they must contact their parent institution(s) for a final decision; the editors take no responsibility for resolving such disagreements. If a change in authorship pertains to the already published paper, it will be executed by publishing a corrected article.
COMPETING INTERESTS
Public trust in the peer review process and the credibility of published articles depend in part on how well the conflict of interest is handled.
Conflict of interest exists when an author (or the author’s institution), reviewer, or editor has financial or personal relationships that inappropriately influence his or her actions. Such relationships are also known as dual commitments, competing interests, or competing loyalties. They vary from those with negligible potential to those with great potential to influence scientific judgment. They may also exist when an individual is not aware of it. Financial relationships, such as employment, consultancies, honoraria, and paid expertise are the most easily identifiable conflicts of interest and the most likely to undermine the credibility of the journal, the authors, and science itself. However, conflicts may occur for other reasons, such as personal relationships, academic competition, and intellectual passion.
If any conflict of interest exists, it is obligatory that each author (step 3 of the submission process) and reviewer (review step 4) declare it.
CORRECTIONS, RETRACTIONS, AND COMMENTING
In general, the journal publishes corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern by following the COPE guidelines.
Corrections
Minor corrections (clarifications) will be possible through comments posted by the editors to the online version of the article. Major corrections will be published via the correction article, fully indexed and linked to the original paper. Major corrections cover errors that significantly affect the understanding of the original article.
Commenting
Readers may also post comments. Editors reserve the right to remove the comment if its content is inconsistent with generally accepted ethical principles.
