Introduction
An individual's self-esteem is a critical factor in psychosocial development. Obesity is an important problem of today's medicine, its increasing occurrence makes it a disease of civilization. Body Mass Index (BMI) is used to assess nutrition - when its value is 30 or more, we are dealing with obesity. Physical activity is a key element in weight control and in improving health. It is one of the most effective ways to prevent cardiovascular and mental diseases and improve physical fitness. Regular exercise reduces the risk factors for many diseases, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.
Aim of the study
The aim of the study was to assess the self-esteem of body weight and nutritional status as well as to compare these parameters between women and men of reproductive age.
Materials and methods
406 took part in the study, but ultimately the study was based on data obtained from 400 people, including 194 women and 206 men. The data obtained using the questionnaire were statistically analyzed in the Statistica software.
Results and conclusions
- Most of both male and female respondents are rural residents under the age of 20.
- Subjective body weight assessment influences certain elements of lifestyle, contributing to overweight and obesity, but also to anorexia and other low weight disorders.
- The implementation of effective educational programs promoting active forms of spending free time and healthy eating habits can stop the obesity epidemics.
